Press release, Malmö December 29, 2016 – Crunchfish has signed a supplementary license agreement with the global mobile phone manufacturer TCL Communication. The agreement gives TCL the right to use additional gestures from Crunchfish’s software for gesture control in their global phone model Alcatel Shine Lite. The agreement is a two-year  extension of an existing license agreement. The transaction gives Crunchfish license revenues from a royalty per manufactured phone. The business value cannot be determined at this time, since the agreement doesn’t stipulate how many phones will be manufactured yearly.

“The agreement strengthens our opinion that selfie features with gesture control continues to be of importance to mobile phone manufacturers in their endeavours to differentiate new models. We also see the agreement as further confirmation of our leading position within gesture control software in this segment”, says Joakim Nydemark, CEO of Crunchfish.

Chinese TCL Communication is a global manufacturer of mobile phones and an internet provider. The company sold more than 40 million mobile phones in over 160 countries in 2015 and has 13,000 employees. Pokémon Go made Augmented Reality (AR) known to the world. Crunchfish’s software aBubbl® for application developers can take Pokémon Go and other applications to the next level by making them truly social. The users get the ability to discover who is nearby, connect and share information.

Imagine you’re out hunting Pokémons. In the park your phone detects other hunters, one of them a close friend. You send her a message and meet up. Since she is out of Pokéballs you give her some by sliding them over from your phone to hers. Just as easily she trades you one of her Pokémons.

Connected AR from Crunchfish enables you to make new friends with people nearby, send them messages and share items from within the app.

Although there’s no gym nearby you want to try out your new Pokémon, so you challenge your friend to a one-on-one battle right there. While you’re battling some of the other hunters have formed a group and they send you a message asking you to join. Together you set off in search for more Pokémons. At a gym your team challenges a very powerful opponent, but together you’re able to vanquish him and save the day!

Join a group battle or battle one-on-one. By adding a collaborative layer, AR and VR gets more social, fun and lets you accomplish more together with others.

Everything described above is possible with Crunchfish’s Connected AR software aBubbl®. aBubbl® can activate AR in any iOS or Android app and enable users to discover, connect and interact with other people nearby.

Activating Connected AR in an app provides the app users with the abilities to:

  • Discover who is nearby.
  • Befriend or exchange contacts.
  • Broadcast invites to people nearby.
  • Share information.
