Crunchfish Proximity is continuing the development of app terminal that is to be commercialised by Blippit. Recently the company delivered the release candidate of the app terminal, which will be used to conduct all regulatory tests and ensure that Blippit is entitled to CE, FCC and Bluetooth mark the app terminal. This is the first step towards initiation of the mass production.

The Blippit app terminal, developed by Crunchfish Proximity, is a new type of payment infrastructure that provides an interface between the app and the point of sale (POS) such as the cash register. This innovative solution is presenting an alternative payment method to traditional payment terminals, and also revolutionises the payment exchanges and coupon management in the FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) market. Swish, with 7 million users in Sweden, is the first app that has chosen to be integrated in the Blippit eco-system.

Recently, Crunchfish Proximity completed the production of the release candidate app terminal. The company has teamed up with a local enterprise to produce the hardware of the app terminal, while the shells are produced overseas. With the release candidate delivered, the final design and components are chosen. Crunchfish Proximity will use the release candidate to test all components and also conduct all regulatory tests in order to ensure that Blippit is entitled to CE, FCC and Bluetooth mark the app terminal.

In parallel with the development of hardware, Crunchfish Proximity is also developing software for the payment architecture. The app terminal’s architecture involves an SDK integrated in the app communicating with the app terminal and the Blippit cloud as well as software for cash registers that is communicating with the app terminal and the Blippit cloud. It’s a scalable architecture that can be launched globally.
