Social applications

Crunchfish’s mobile proximity technology for social applications enables contextual and dynamic awareness of what is present here and now in real-time. It also allows users to communicate with their surroundings through a broadcast or a digital handshake. The patented technology supports m-identification, a convenient and secure way to present personal data.

Discover who's here

Crunchfish’s software platform aBubbl® enables mobile phone users to discover whoever is nearby. It gives users superpowers, telling them much more about the people around them than the naked eye can detect. Analysing  measured signal strength makes it possible to identify people according to their distance from the user.

Communicate with anyone present nearby

Anyone in range of the Bluetooth Low Energy signal emitted from the mobile user’s app is part of an ad hoc network within which it is possible to send and receive information. Uses include document sharing in meetings and social requests or updates. Data may be sent to everyone or only to selected people by name or matching a filter.

Digital handshake for identification or information exchange

A digital handshake is an exchange of information, typically between two people. Interaction is intuitive: users simply hold their mobile devices a few centimetres apart from each other. Handshakes can serve as an event check-in, an exchange of contact information or an m-identification request from another user.

Technology

Crunchfish’s mobile proximity technology enables discovery and communication with everything and everyone located nearby. We are digitizing the immediate surroundings of a person or a thing. This technology is highly dynamic and contextual and all about the experience of the here and now.

Crunchfish redefines mobile interaction within m-commerce and social applications. We market our patented technology through the aBubbl®software platform, which is based on beacons.

A key feature of beacon technology is its ability to detect and interact with mobile phone users even when they are not actively using an application. It is sufficient that the application is installed and that Bluetooth is enabled for communication to be possible. The interaction may be designed to be based on distance as the measured signal strength determines whether the user is a few centimetres, a couple metres or hundreds of metres away.

Patents
Crunchfish has an exceptionally strong IP-portfolio. Within mobile proximity there are almost 20 unique innovations that the company has applied patents for, of which Crunchfish has been granted about 10 patents. In addition, there are another 10 unique innovations that have been granted patents relating to touchless interaction.
