Swedish software company Crunchfish enters cooperation with Japanese electronics company Epson to bring efficient touchless interaction to AR smart glasses for industrial use.

Nasdaq First North listed Crunchfish partners with Epson for use of Crunchfish’s software in Epson’s Moverio product range. Epson’s state-of-the-art smart glasses with the latest gesture control technology offers the end user an easier and more efficient way of using the broad spectrum of applications on the Moverio platform. The partnership includes mutual promotion of Epson’s products using gesture control.

Epson is one of the leading manufacturers of smart glasses for the industrial sector. In cooperation with Independent Software Vendors (ISV), Epson addresses the growing global industrial market for AR-solutions. Crunchfish’s software will be available for all ISVs to enable gesture control in any solution. A typical customer is a company in search of solutions to e.g. optimize industrial procedures and reduce machine down-time with more effective maintenance management. The Epson Group comprises nearly 72,000 employees in 93 companies around the world.

Smart glasses in combination with apps will dramatically change processes within most industries over the next 2-5 years. One of the strongest driving forces for the market growth of smart glasses will be substantial efficiency gains. The AR-market is predicted to have a value of $90 billion annually by 2020, according to Analyst Digi-Capital.

“We believe that touchless gestures will be one of the key interaction methods for future solutions running on our Moverio products. We are very pleased to add Crunchfish to our network of software technology partners and continue to offer the market unique solutions” says Valerie Riffaud Cangelosi, Head of New Market Development- EMEA at Epson.

“We are proud to be a part of Epson’s partner network. Epson’s smart glasses in combination with our proven Touchless A3D® software is a winning solution for many use cases in the industry. With joint marketing and sales activities addressing relevant customer segments, we will gain new exciting opportunities” says Joakim Nydemark, CEO at Crunchfish.
