With 24 billion uploaded selfies on Google alone it’s safe to say that the selfie trend is still going strong. Already in 2014 Crunchfish created the showcase app GoCam for iPhone, to bring touchless gesture control to a wide audience. In 2015, a custom-made version of GoCam was developed in cooperation with MOMAX in Hong Kong targeting selfie enthusiasts. The MOMAX Cam was the first ever touchless camera app designed for selfie sticks. This month we celebrate half a million downloads of GoCam and MOMAX Cam!

Gesture control the future of interaction

Crunchfish is market leader in gesture control for consumer electronics. The interest in adding gesture control in camera apps continue to grow and Crunchfish Touchless A3D® software is currently installed in millions of Android devices on the market from global players such as Lenovo, OPPO and TCL.

A study from the research company Technavio predicts that gesture control will become vital for the interaction with consumer electronics. By 2020, more than 1,6 billion consumer electronic devices are expected to have gesture control according to the report.

Try our gesture controlled camera apps on your iPhone or iPad

Download GoCam and MOMAX Cam from App Store and take selfies and group photos just by raising your hand. The built-in camera on your device detects your gestures. For best detection, center your hand at least 30 cm from the camera and spread your fingers a little. You can take touchless photos from a distance up to three meters.

This is how you do it:

Take an instant photo using a v-sign.
Trigger a timer by showing an open hand,
then close your hand to start the timer.
Browse the photo gallery using a swipe gesture.
Mark photos in the gallery as favorite with a thumbs-up.
